at Michael Rease Hospital in Chicago. After two years service as a U.S.
Army psychiatrist in Japan, he returned to Chicago to continue training
at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. He has maintained at active clinical practice with individuals and couples for over thirty years. During this time, he has been a popular teacher of the art and science of psychotherapy to more than a generation of young psychiatrists and medical students. His many interests include the treatment of traumatic conditions, the psychology of prejudice, the phenomenon of romantic love, and the relationship of advances in neurobiology to the understanding, and treatment of psychological problems.
